todd_boyer
I just purchased a Fuji GA645zi as my first step into the world of medium format. I would like to know what other users find a suitable print film for landscapes. I really have no ability to scan MF slides and really don't want to incur the significant cost to have it done. So given that limitation, are there any films that one would recommend? What about a portrait film recommendation? Thanks
jay_.
For landscapes: Kodak Portra 160VC or 400VC. For portraits, Kodak Portra 400NC. And when you're shooting (especially landscapes), put that camera on a solid tripod, otherwise you're negating all the advantage of MF.
bill_heiker
Don't forget Kodak 400UC. It has moderately enhanced color and the grain of a 160 speed film. I used a couple rolls and was very pleased. Try to choose between 160 or 400 based on the conditions. For brightly lit scenes, stay with 160. When using 400 film in the 645zi with a brightly lit scene, I often cannot use the settings I want because the camera has very limited shutter speed and aperture ranges. There are quite a few threads about the camera in the forum. Lots of information there.
