The Answer is Simple, Sony cannot afford to be new

Much of this has already been covered on the multitude of postings on this forum recently. But it brings a new slant to the position that seems rather odd. Would Sony only take on/over the routine parts of the KM operation and leave KM to supply advanced technology to other companies who would be in direct competition with Sony ?

It will take time for the joint operations to be put together and establish a working basis ( this is pointed out on the bit about lenses and the possible slow down in a launch date for new camera models ) but I find it a bit hard to believe that it will continue like this for any length of time. This is particularly so if Sony wish to realise their ambition to achieve 20-25% of the market within 12 to 18 months. Is it not more likely that Sony will want full control a.s.a.p ?

Speculation + speculation = more confusion

... so if you agree with me, then I'm writing well, and if you disagree, then I'm writing poorly? C'mon - that says more about you than me!

EVERYTHING I wrote (and I wrote it all) is a rehash of what I've been writing over the years on a variety of Minolta discussion groups, much of it cc'd to my own http://groups.yahoo.com/group/peterblaisephotography/

More from David Kilpatrick of IconMags fame, now called Konica Minolta Photo World at http://www.f2photo.co.uk/store/browse.php and http://www.iconpublications.com/ (defunct?!?) - subscribe to them all:

Konica Minolta Photoworld + Master Photo Digital + f2 Freelance+Digital

The more I use my DiMage A1 the happier I am - DiMage Master extrapolating CLEAN 312%, IrfanView converting RAW at 1/2(1/4) CLEAN, and DxO offering file schmoozers for it, and an 80x Write Enabled card letting me fire at will with the v1.13 ROM update ... I just cannot complain. Of course I have my accessories - wide and telephoto lenses and closeup lens and battery/grip and holster case. I think I may NEVER buy a new Sony/Minolta, rather, waiting for used to keep the prices acceptable to me. THAT was the killer for Minolta (and HP) - the old ones lasting so long!

No, it's just that when you string sentences together to make paragraphs, you make your posts more readable. Therefore, I actually will read it, instead of looking for the end of your post. I see that Jimmy Smith has somewhat copied your style and over time, it gets boring.

Anyway, your post made more sense than many of your previous posts. No wild claims, strange thoughts, or pompous atitude. Combine that with a new style, and I will spend the time to read it.
