bill_thorlin
Looking through fleabay and came across item 7584271101 - Minolta 70- 210 telephoto zoom lens(e) Carl Zeiss optics Jenazoom 11. I have never seen anything from Zeiss for Minolta before but maybe that is just my lack of knowledge - so just out of interest does anyone have any knowledge on this ? Given the recent changes are we seeing an example of "what goes around comes around" ? ( No I do not any involvement, pecuniary or otherwise, in this item )
User_502260
This is what I would call a "ZINO." That's a Zeiss In Name Only. These lenses were made in Japan and had the Zeiss name slapped on them. They are usually found in markets outside of the U.S. The Carl Zeiss lenses made by Yashica/Kyocera for the modern Contax SLR cameras are by all accounts very good lenses but Jena is the tipoff that you are talking about the former East Germany. There are any number of original Minolta zoom lenses in this range which go for very little today and which have much better performance.
grahams
One other thing Bill, it's not an AF lens - strictly manual focus.
