clinton_abe
I had dinner with some friends tonight, and one of them had gone to Japan a month and a half ago. He said while was there he saw for sale, a Sony DSLR and at first thought it was the Sony/KM DSLR. He said, he was told it was a Japan only model and that the instruction manual were in Japanese. But, I told him that it wasn't likely the joint development model that is expected to be released next year, as it was too close to the announcement of the joint development. When I questioned him further, he said that there were only three lenses available to fit it, plus it looked like the lens mount was some type of breech mount, like an old Canon. My question is- Does anyone know if Sony had tried to sell a DSLR, using their own lens mount in Japan? If they did, they found out that they needed much more than three lenses to be a serious player in the DSLR market and therefore went looking for a partner. stwrtertbsratbs5
I just hope that any DSLR that Sony sells has Zeiss lenses. Robert

stwrtertbsratbs5
Yes, a CY mount would be fantastic, along with a line of new Zeiss AF lenses in that mount. But there is the Kyocera problem - they probably own the mount. But perhaps Sony will cut a deal as the Kyocera camera designs were excellent, too. And the N-mount could be revived if a full frame sensor DSLR is eventually launched. We can only hope. Robert
michael_hohner
Sony never had a DSLR, but something similar, the DSC-R1. <p>Sony alsways stated that future Sony DSLRs will have Minolta A mount, so I don't know why people still try to make the connection to Yashica and Zeiss. stwrtertbsratbs5
People speculate about a Sony DSLR with Zeiss lenses because of the presence of Zeiss lenses on so many Sony cameras. And the desire to use some of the excellent Zeiss glass that's already in circulation. No, Sony does not have a DSLR in the marketplace, but they seem to have all the technology in place to launch one. Not too difficult to fathom. clinton_abe
Robert- If these posters would only read the press release by Sony and KM, they would know that the Sony DSLR would be using the KonicaMinolta AF lensmount. It wasn't a secret. Oh, and by the way, the Sony DSLR will be using KM's Anti-Shake feature as well.
