lens_four
Does anyone have this lens on a Dynax 7D? Does it work okay. I've heard that if you can get the latest latest version - the APO Macro - then it should work Many thanks
bill_tuthill
I have a vague recollection that somebody posted that something in this combination didn't work, and Sigma said the lens was too old to rechip. The only reason I remember is that I was thinking of getting a 400/5.6 at one time, but decided not to. Sorry, I can't find the post today. You could try e-mailing photo.net member Ross Warner (first one listed) who once owned a 400/5.6 Sigma and now has a 7D. Please let us know the answer. lens_four
I checked elsewhere, one of the shops selling a couple (okay 6x) Sig 400s i Min AF. Best advice was not to buy it. From what I've descovered in the last few weeks, before my last ditch attempt (breaking all forum rules by posting the same question in three forum (fora?) on the same subject - very bad form) .... was that some people have got one that works, others don't. You have to catch a lucky one that has been chipped to work on later dynax film bodies, it would appear that these are the ones most likely to work on the 7D. So, firstly. eBay is out as a buying source! If you are getting one then you'd have to agree with the shop in advance to agree to accept return and refund if it fails. The shop I spoke to just, said none of their Sig 400s have been chipped. And I know that Sig have stopped chipping this lens. Its a shame, the lens by all accounts is actually quite good optically. But the thought of manual focus or only using it f5.6-8 is a bit of a show stopper Back to the drawing board!
