casimir_mazik
Recently purchased on eBay, vivitar 75-205 1:3.8 macro focusing zoom for Minolta manual focusing camera. The f stop ring and lever work normally, but the aperture iris is always open. Where is the best place to send it for repair. It is cosmetically brand new. If I wanted stripped screw heads or a butchered retaining ring I wouldn't be asking here. I am hoping for a near perfect repair at a reasonable cost. scott_lewis3
That would depend on where you are? If you are in southern Germany I know the perfect place.
Brian
I don't know where you are, but in the UK such a lens would probably be considered unrepairable because the cost of a standard dismantle and service would be more than the value of the lens. fmueller
I agree with Brian. In the US you are looking at a minimum of about $60 to have a lens serviced, eg the aperture cleaned, and that isn't at a workshop that gurantees "near perfect repairs". A common third party zoom like your Vivitar is hardly worth that much. Return it to the seller who presumably claimed it was working.
christian deichert
Scott, where is your repair place? I'm in Wiesbaden and could always use a good shop for a CLA.

casimir_mazik
Since no one responded, I assumed no one knew anything about that repair service. I looked at other posts on this site and found one located near to where I live. Lee Camera Service, 1520 Miner St., DesPlaines, IL 60016 (847)299-7160. He fixed this lens in just two days, near perfect, for $50.00. I am very pleased. Heavy Asian accent, but he knows what he's doing.
ken dennis
Hi I know this isnt an answer to your post but I was wondering how your lens is doing after having it repaired by Lee's, I live in Indiana and have a Minolta AF 50mm f1.4 that has oil on the aperture blades and after reading your post I called Lee's and they said they can fix it for around $30.00, I would hate to send it and have it butchered, as it is a 20 years old lens, and the rest of the lens is in prestine condition with the exception of the oil problem, $30.00 seams very inexpensive to have it repaired and I just wanted to be certain that IM not sending it out to a butcher, Thanks for any advice you might have! Ken. P.S You where very correct about the heavy asian accent, very difficult to understand, had to have them repeat everything several times to make sure I heard them right!
