boulderjoe
Hello, I was wondering if the Minolta 3500 Flash will work wirelessly with the Maxxum 5? Thanks -Joe

boulderjoe
Thank you very much. The local used store has one for $40... -Joe
scott_lewis3
The best feature of the 3500 is its wirless. you only need to put it on the 5 and set the flash to wireless, the 3500 gets a signal from the camera then goes into wireless mode. take the flash off and place it where you want. you use the popup falsh on the 5 to set the 3500 off. the 5 has no support for the "wireless flash controller" (an extra piece that is no longer made by minolta but is supported by the 7 and 9) so you must use the pop up. jason_buxbaum
Hey Yes, it will...that's the exact combination I'm using now. But be warned--the 3500xi will only sync up to 1/45. The 3600HS(D) has much faster top wireless (and wired, for that matter) sync speed. But hey, for $40...pretty good deal. ~J
alan_greene
Don't forget to take advantage of ratio coverage. You can have the builtin flash provide 1/3 and the wireless provide 2/3 of the light. You can even use multiple remote wireless flash without the controller. Have fun. bjmarkowitz
Just bought the 5600HS to do just that and the ratio and the high speed synch. Probably never use it for all of that but hey, I got it used with money from my football league that I won. So, its like free. Also, going to try to sell my Phoenix ZBIF92 on ebay and try to get a few bucks for it. Other than the wireless remote and ratio, its similar to the 3500xi. boulderjoe
Thanks again for all the tips. Just picked up the 5, it's my first new minolta since I got the 7000 new in 87. Great little camera the 5. So does anyone want a well used 7000 with 50f1.7 and 2800 flash for $75? -Joe
