Gup
In 5 days I'm going to Italy for 3 weeks. While shopping yesterday I bought a Samsung S2 tablet on a bit of a whim.
I've never used one before and am looking for ideas of how it can be useful other than for entertainment and email purposes.
How have you or would you use this on holiday?
For instance, can I upload my card at the end of the day to a cloud storage somewhere, somehow? It only takes a micro-SD card and has a mini USB type plug for charging.
willis
The micro-SD card is small enough that I would get a half dozen or more and when one is full then put a new card. Somehow I don't trust the cloud.
aplumpton
I don't know how you will travel between places in Italy, but when there or in France we have used our mini tablet for two things. The first was saving money by renting a car without GPS and by using free GPS software and localy purchased connection time (Orange in France) via the small card that inserts into our device (about 20$ for a month). The second use was as a backup to my camera SD card as well as an en route viewing device (62 GB capacity). I could not edit the the files though as PS or other image editing software could not be charged to my tablet, and which would probably require a laptop incany case. But this can be done later with pleasure at home.

Have fun. If you explore Florence and Tuscany and its great villages you will love the Italian lifestyle, culture and scenery there. We were there only 10 days but could easily have doubled that and still have an appetite.
jim_service
I would recommend two apps, star walk and the photographers ephemeris.
Include a bunch of images from home to share with people you meet.
