Epson V800 Discontinued?

<p>I was going to order one of these soon from either of two Canadian outlets. Yet both are out of stock and have been on backorder for some time now. Is there a supply issue with these or is it that maybe Epson has discontinued this scanner do to low sales?</p>

Epson USA and Canada both have the V800 in stock at the Epson Store, both are out of stock on the V850.<br>

The Epson Clearance Center USA has both the V800 and V850 refurbished, Canada site the V850 only.<br>

<p>The V700/750 were in production for nearly a decade, I seriously doubt either the V800 or V850 are going away soon. It's possible that some component is depending on an Epson facility in the region around Kumamoto - southern Japan was hit with a pretty severe earthquake in mid-April, and it's caused some component supply issues for Nikon, Canon, and Sony among others. <br /><br />There also have been times when they do run low on current products (I've seen the V600 go backordered from time to time). It may be nothing more than that.</p>

<p>P.S.<br /> The Epson Store always lists discontinued items as such or the remaining stock as Closeout just before they discontinue an item.</p>

<p>Dealer order minimum may be another reason for a store to be out of stock.</p>
