amanda_kleinman
Can I use the Bronica G 6x7 film back on the Bronica S2A? If not, is there a 6x7 film back that would work on the Bronica S2A? Any recommendations for viewfinders?
Aoresteen
No. The S2a is a 6X6 MAX format and the Bronica G size backs will not fit. Completely different cameras.
david_henderson
During the short time in which the S2A was available, there were no Bronica 67 cameras and would not be for the next decade- so the mind-set that might have even thought that it might be nice to provide lenses /mounts that give an image circle big enough to facilitate 67 shooting on a Bronica was still far away. And even if the image circle were OK, there is as far as I know no compatibility between the generation of Bronicas of which the S2A forms a part, and the "last generation" SLRs such as the SQ/ ETR/GS models, or even between 6x6 and 67 models of the same generation..

I can't see a way you're going to make that happen.
Aoresteen
Bronica did make a 645 back for the S2A (Film Back E). It crops the 6x6 area to a 6x4.5 cm for a rectangular format.

These backs are not easy to find. And to easily take a vertical 645 picture you need a 90 degree prism.
amanda_kleinman
Thanks for the quick replies and informative feedback. I suspected the answer was a solid no. I had been using a Hasselblad 500c, borrowed from a friend. The Bronica was an impulse purchase and I do not regret it. I just wanted to know if it had any film back expansion options. Thanks again! Aoresteen
The Bronica S2A was the best of the early Bronica focal plane shutter cameras. It is a solid camera and should do you well.
Jerry Uelsmann used a Bronica S2A for many years and created some of the best photographs I've ever seen. Check him out.
erwin_schaefer
Remove the backs of both cameras. Place them side by side. What do you see?
User_4136860
Besides anything else Bronica S2A lense image circle won't cover a 6X7 negative.
