Canon FD Photo of the Month: October 2015

The range of chrome film available continues to dwindle; Provia 400X, which I've been extolling for the last few months, is no more, to my great sadness. Looks like I'll be dialling the meter down to Velvia 50 from now on! Following therefore are my last Provia 400X posts here:

00dW8L-558671284.jpg.47643bb9e6583b367c5edeee8ffb2b6d.jpg

Thanks Ashley. I have largely replaced most of my A7 lens quiver with Zeiss lenses but for the super long, ultra wide and ultra fast I'm still using my FD lenses. It's always a pleasure to hang out here with the FD photogs. The glass still lasts!

00dW94-558672884.jpg.7e1023aca220ab8e43edeba841f204d1.jpg

Thx Jim, the first shot was wide open and the second was either at 1.4 or 2. Possibly 2.8 but I don't think so it was stopped down that much.

So far I am very pleased with how sharp this lens is wide open. It isn't razor sharp of course, but much better then I was expecting. I truly believe it is sharper at 1.2 then my old Rokkor 50/1.4 is wide open at 1.4. Put it this way, it's sharp enough...and only gets better when stopped down.

You may view some other examples from this lens on my flickr page if you like.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/8539414@N07/
