Helping a friend go through his dads estate. Came across two unmarked large cameras, both have the 4-tube lenses on a 4 legged geared table. The back Slides. the camera back is roughly 10x10 focusing ground glass.

Any Idea what these are? & Value?
Thank you Brian

00dhvE-560413884.thumb.jpg.796f73f06c430f71180198d1c83764b4.jpg

Difficult to value because the market for such a camera is going to be limited to specialist collectors. It's of little practical use these days, and looks a bit "butchered", in that the original lens board has been modified in a careless fashion. These things usually sat on a wooden stand or brass-bound tripod. It's worthwhile try to find that. - Ahh! Just read that you have the stands. These may have more value than the cameras.

Look for a small name-plate like Sanderson or Bausch & Lomb. Most likely it would be a little engraved Ivorine plate nailed to the back. If you can pin it down to a well-known maker that might lift the value. Or offer it to a local museum. It almost certainly came from a commercial portrait studio sometime in the late 1800's or early C20th and may have historical links to the town or area.
