michael_przewrocki2
Hello I am trying to find out why e-ttl is not working on 1000D when using SCA 3000 cable-system(3000A) with metz 32 MZ-3 and canon speedlite 380EX with chinese copy of cable 2(what the complete canon model-name?).
maybe both cable are defective. or also 3101-adapter. Its also not working on Eos-1N
I wonder of i need an adapter upgrade. my version is: 3101 M. Is there a list showing the versions for EOS?
Must also study adapter-manual. among others it has a-ttl-setting(off and on-option). maybe my SCA-flash with 3101 can only A-TTL.
i also have 3102 but flash is 3000-type not 3002.
Next will be getting original canon cable 2 and a new 3000A.
SCA-flash is working properly with SCA 300-system using 311. 311 cannot be used with 1N.
on hotshoe TTL seems to work. will test again.
SCA-Manual says shortest exposure is 15% from largest distance. So i dont wonder why at 1m at 100iso aperture larger than f2.8 are not possible. maybe with more diffusion or ND. plastic-filters no good idea. i once used a nd-gelatine filter which burnt a bit...
Background is adjusting roundflash-reflector(chinese copy) for TTL and closeups.
I am using this german info-site about SCA-system:
http://faq.d-r-f.de/wiki/Metz_SCA-FAQ
among another a list with flashes:
metz mecablitz system sca 300/3000: welcher adapter passt zu ihrer kamera?
which adapter is working with your camera
should be in first link
http://faq.d-r-f.de/w/images/4/46/SCA_300-D.pdf
JosvanEekelen
Michael, compatibility problems made me stop using Metz' SCA 3000 system with Canon DSLRs altogether. Could not get E-TTL working on EOS 10D. AFAIK there is no SCA adapter for the EOS DSLRs that allow E-TTL. Occasionally I use the SCA 300 (?) adapter that will give me auto (thyristor) flash.
Furthermore I'm not sure how you want to mix the Metz and Canon flashes, I'm not aware of any cable system that will allow this but I don't rule out that there is a possibility to get it working.
Perhaps you'd best start by reading http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-flash/ for a better understanding of Canon's flash system(s).
michael_przewrocki2
In SCA-30-list 1/94 not everything is clear. its too complicated to explain. one does not know which functions work for certain cam because they made unclear clamp for a cgroupd of cameras with different functions-combination. instead of just setting the blue points to where its working. What the hell were they thinking?
because of that i am unsure of EOS1(EOS1N) is working TTL with 311.
312 AF only adds AF-metering-flash. but i will use manual lens. so 311 should do.
they say for 312 AF one needs distant piece SCA 300D with work oin 32 MZ-3, 40MZ-2, 32 CT 7 and 32 CT-8. to avoid colliding AF-beam with lens in my opinion.
i also have a combined instructions 300/3000(consulted seen some days ago) but i cant find right now. anyone seen online? german or english

michael_przewrocki2
I meant using the external cable of canon on metz instead of 307A or 3007A. I could simulate SCA 300-system on Contax 139/137 MA since i have flashmeter. pity not contax RTS III anymore where flashmeter is build-in.
michael_przewrocki2
here is one of the mentioned lists but not the leaflet from 1/94:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/FrameWork/charts/comp_metzflash_canon.html
more here: interestingly he does not mention A-TTL only TTL:
interesting is mentioning of C.Fn.
http://www.p4pictures.com/2014/08/difference-e-ttl-ttl-canon-flash/
in my 1000D C.Fn III(no6) autofocus/transport i can set active, deactive and only active with external flash.
maybe when using manual lens one must set external flash option when flash on cable.
maybe flash-measuring is coupled with AF sort of A-TLL. SCA 3101-module has A-TTL off or on.
michael_przewrocki2
Here seems the best explenations: at least for speedlites
http://cpn.canon-europe.com/content/education/infobank/flash/speedlite_compatibility.do
my 1000D is AII-type,
Centre: Type A cameras have sensors in the viewfinder area that read both ambient and flash illumination. These sensors operate with EX-series Speedlites. The cameras also have flash sensors in the bottom of the camera body for A-TTL metering with EZ-series Speedlites.
Why the hell are they not listing B-type cameras?
