David Maynard workshop

<p>Evening all,<br>

<br />Our local camera shop (yes we still have a very good one here) is hosting a portrait workshop by David Maynard. I've not heard much about him and wonder if it is worthwhile. Portrait lighting, studio lighting generally, is where I am weakest and I could no doubt learn a lot. Is anyone familiar with this photographer, ever been to one of his workshops? It's $90 for an evening session which doesn't seem outrageous if there is good info presented. If it is another basic lighting cookie cutter event I'm not sure I'm interested. <p>After looking at the faces section of his website gallery, if his portrait workshop was being held near me, I would take a pass.</p>

<p>I would take his swimsuit workshop if his models were also provided!</p>

<p>Seriously, if you're an absolute beginner in regards to studio lighting techniques, I would think it's worth the $90. From what I can see on his site, he's a competent studio and location photographer, and I'm sure you would gain at least $90 in instruction.</p>
