Canon FD Photo of the Month: April 2015

I was asked to photograph an art benefit last Saturday. I took along my old FTb, an FD 15/2.8 fisheye, and a roll of Kodak Portra 400 film. I used a Vivitar 283 flash, realizing the flash angle would come nowhere to covering the 180 angle of the fisheye lens. Still, I like how the flash is concentrated on my two friends, enjoying a dance together. They both love it, so I guess it worked.

One more, onstage with a performer. Same deal, 15/2.8 fisheye with Vivitar 283 flash on Portra 400. I cropped a bit of the un-lit sides out of this picture to concentrate more on the subject.

The 15mm fisheye can be a bit gimmicky at times, but pics taken with it can really add to a portfolio if used sparingly, for impact. It definitely has a unique look.
