didjiman
The best prices for a new M7 on the Bay seems to be the Hong Kong sellers. Do people have good experience with doing business with any of them? Or should I not try to save that $300-$400? // richard
george_conboy1
Richard, I bought a 35 'cron ASPH on Fleabay from Tony Lee and had no problem.
skeeter
richard, check their feedback. that really says it all. all of my purchases have been flawless, with the equipment arriving at my door 5 days after purchase.
ben_crabtree
I would recommend Tony Rose -- meleica on E-Bay -- who has prices very close to Hong Kong but is in the US, and besides he's a great guy who provides great service.
ed_balko3
It is worth the time to call Tony Rose directly - he may well beat the price posted on eBay.
jay_.
I add my endorsement for Tony Rose, for Leica lenses and I bought a Hassy 503CW from him also, for a *huge* savings. Poon from HK is also very reliable, I got a 40CFE from him, also for a huge saving, but that involved a trip to the bank and a wire transfer vs just giving Mr. Rose a VISA number over the 'phone. However in re the M7 (or an R9 if that's your poison)I would not think of trying to save even $500 buying from HK or gray-market, *even if it was from a licensed Leica dealer*. I got my M7's on Leica day and they threw in an extra 2 years full factory warranty on top of the USA 3-yr no-fault Passport. With these cameras even more so than the M6's, a 5 year warranty is very comforting, as one un-warrantied repair service would easily eat any initial savings--and there's certainly the possibility of multiple repairs in a 5 year period. Just my way of thinking.
igor_osatuke
I had two transactions with Poon: 40mm Distagon, and a Flexbody. Both of them went flawlessly. I used Paypal with him; it is almost as easy to pay with as a credit card.
george_l._doolittle
I agree strongly with Ja y. If you live in the States, buying gray market or Hong Kong may well be penny wise and pound foolish in the long run.
chris c
I will also second Jay's comments regarding Tony Poon and the value of passport on the Bodies. I dont' believe passport is needed of the lenses.
