unclebuddha
Any recommendations for photography locations next week in Arkansas? The leaves should be very colorful. I'm going to try to get to Hawksbill Rock, anywhere else? Thanks!

Laura Weishaupt
Devil's Den State Park is very nice this time of year and it's not far from your destination, relatively speaking. Just about anywhere along the Buffalo River is very nice, but much further. Have a great trip.
www.philwinterphotography.
If you can get to Eureka Springs, it's a very interesting town. As they say, "It's where the misfits, fit." I like the part of US 71 south of Fayetteville, near Wislow. There are abandoned motor courts and rusting 50's tourist attractions on top of Mt. Gaylor. One motor court, Skyvue, I believe is still in operation. My grandparents owned it shortly before, during and after WWII. There is an interesting aviation museum at the old airport, Drake Field, also on US 71.
It's too bad about the train collision. I've been on that excursion, and it's very nice. I hope they are able to keep it going.
unclebuddha
Thanks folks. I wasn't able to get any really good photographs since I was there to attend a motocycle rally at The Hub and we spent our days riding the fabulous back roads of NW Arkansas. I got snapshots at best, certainly nothing I'd post to p* ... But I'm planning on going back since the place was really gorgeous, MUCH nicer than I thought it would be (and I'm from Kentucky). michael_mccranie
The Nature Conservancy is opening the gate at Smith Creek Preserve, and giving guided tours. This will allow people direct access without having the usual hike. A great opportunity for everyone, especially those who couldn't normally make the hike. Here are the details Smith Creek Tour
