sthurston69
Hi,
I would like to project a point of light onto a studio wall from about 10 feet away. The light source is a strobe. The point of light would be about two inches wide.
Is there a DIY solution to create this?
Thanks!

ellis_vener_photography
To make a DIY point start with the the lighting instrument -Speedlight, Monolight or pack and system makes little difference but you want to put in to an enclosure but make sure you have plenty of air space and flow around it. With the light source at one end of he "box" make a small hole at the opposite end. To focus the light use a lens from a slide projector somewhere between the hole and the wall you want it to shine on. If you want to have the light even more well defined place a stiff sheet of black craft paper with a hole punched it it, in the light path between the enclosure and the lens. This baffle will further collimate the light.
