Hi again Nikon folks, and a happy Wednesday. A bit of week-to-week déjà vu, as I'm still working on the pano project from last week. Just another on-the-scene shot, with the rig inside one of the spaces we're photographing. What's not shown in the photo is the amount of time we spent wrestling with a faulty generator connector that was dropping one phase to the vehicle and half of the lighting. Always leave some extra time to work on projects like these. What have you been up to? Share a photo!

00cyYg-552765584.jpg.445df8b7cd236acc58b37a58b80fc6d9.jpg

I snagged a copy of the free version of Photomatix and thought I'd try it again. Last version I tried several years ago lacked the subtlety I wanted. I tried the new version on some October snaps of fading signs and new graffiti in my neighborhood on a very sunny, contrasty late afternoon. The new version of Photomatix is very good, with plenty of tweaks to tame contrast without going overboard into fantasy land.

Only ventured as far as my back garden this week to take this fantastic display of Callicarpe berries as we head into winter. The picture really doesn't do justice to their amazing shade of purple and I think this year is the best they've ever been. I'd really recommend one of these bushes to anyone whose garden lacks a bit of autumn/winter colour.

This one was taken in October in my local park in Candiac next to the St. Lawrence river that looks more like an ocean. I opened the aperture wide with no intention of having the trees and leaves on the ground in focus. I was just strolling around with my camera and experimenting while enjoying the superb Fall weather. Lots of nice images so far.

John R - I like those blue/orange shots you submitted.
John F - love the warm and natural abstract
Bill J - grabbed my attention
Lex - thanks for the info about Photomatix - it is software I use once in a while. Rumor is that the latest cameras like the D810 have such superior (compared to D300) dynamic range that it reduces the need for Photomatix.
Everybody else- Good stuff.

And for what it is worth and the reason I like this forum is the diversity of the images I experience here.

When the news shows the world in such turmoil, let us be Thankful - Happy Thanksgiving.

00cyap-552772884.jpg.47adffc239a6ad2bb980f71fc576a6e0.jpg
