Lenses for Sony Alpha A7r

Recommended Posts

Looking to purchase some lenses for my Sony alpha 7r.
Your recommendations for best choices would be appreciated.
Currently I am using the FE 55MM F1.8 ZA as my only lens.
Which Wide angle?
Which Zoom?
Can the zoom be the substitute for a Tele?
Are the Zeiss lenses worth the price difference?
Any experiences would be greatly appreciated as well.

FE 35mm F2.8 is an amazing lens. It's definitely not a portraiture lens, so F2.8 shouldn't bother you. It's zeiss zeiss. For tele 70-200 is a very good choice. Yes, and as you may notice with your 55mm lens zeiss is worth every penny. You may also wait for zeiss's loxia lens line announcements.

I have the Zeiss FE 35 mm f2.8 that I use with an A7. I am quite pleased with this lens. It is small and light, and is well made. The images are sharp and have excellent contrast and resolution. I highly recommend this lens.
I also have the FE 28-70 mm "kit" lens. It is significantly larger than the 35 mm, but obviously the focal length range is versatile and convenient, and this lens has optical stabilization. This lens is also well made. It is overall not as sharp as the 35 mm lens, but it does a decent job if you watch the aperture. I think the reviews show it at its sharpest in the f 5.6 - f 11.0 range.
