milan_moudgill
Hi!

I am considering the Pentax645z, if only I can use my Contax645 lenses with it.
1. Would anyone know of an adapter to do this (use Contax 645 lenses on a Pentax 645z body)?
2. And if you happen to know the limitations of such an adapter (MF vs. AF, TTL metering, Exposure modes, etc.)?

Many thanks in advance!
Milan
ellis_vener_photography
As far as I know there is no adapter and if there is it will be a strictly manual camera to lens connection.
milan_moudgill
Thanks for your response!
It is helpful, though a little sad-making that i've hit a dead end with this!
ondebanks
There's no market for such an adapter, because the Contax lenses would only focus on shorter distances. Pentax 645 lenses could reach infinity on a Contax 645 body, but the reverse is impossible.
ondebanks
But having said that, you might want to wait and see what Leica does next with the S series. Speculation is building that they will reveal a new S camera with the same Sony CMOS tech as the Pentax 645Z (except perhaps in the 3:2 aspect ratio). Not only is there room for an adapter which permits infinity focus with the Contax lenses on the S body; Leica have made such an adapter themselves and it fully controls the lens' aperture and autofocus motors.
