cxc
I'm looking for the longest practical telephoto lens that will fit on my little 13" monorail, and focus somewhat closer than infinity. I have scoped out most of the candidates, but I can't find much on Fuji lenses. So, does anybody know what extension is necessary to focus the Fujinon 400t at infinity? By the way I'm also looking at the Osaka 400t and the Nikkor 360 & 500 ED's. I've ruled out the Schneider guy cuz it is in a #3 shutter, which won't fit in my old Gowland Pocket View. TIA, CXC
eugene_singer
Christopher, the flange focal length of the Fuji 400T is 253mm at infinity. I use mine on a Toyo 45AII that has approx. 300mm of bellows to work with. The Osaka is a four element lens. The Nikon is quite a bit more expensive. Check with Jim, at Midwest Photo (mpex.com). He has new Fuji 400T's in stock, as well as a selection of used Nikon teles, at the present time.
brian_ellis3
I don't know the flange focal length but I used the Fuji 400T on a Tachihara with 13" extension. It worked fine. I could focus a lot closer than infinity but I never measured to see exactly how close. It's a fine lens and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a tele in that length. The Nikon also is an excellent lens but it's a lot larger and a lot heavier than the Fuji, not to mention more expensive. The Fuji is used with a Copal 1 shutter as I recall. I'm not familiar with the Osaka.
cxc
Thanks, guys, that's exactly what I needed. In case you are curious, here is where the Osaka's come from: http://www.bromwellmarketing.com/ CXC
