art_major
Hey Guys,
I dont shoot digital much, but I have a 6D for a few months now. The texture on the plastic of the body feels a bit velvety, like its deteriorating or something. I don't know if it felt like this when I first purchased the camera. It was sitting my window for over a week, I don't know if that was the issue or not. Iv had a 5D mk2 for over 4 years and never had this issue. has anyone else experienced this?

THANKS.
PuppyDigs
Nope, but mine is only 8 months old and stays in a bag when not being used. A camera sitting in a window for a week during the summer can't be good.
Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
Marcus Ian
Of course the 5D2 is also a different body, though the paint should be the same (except for the top plate, which, on the 6D is polycarbonate).... So subjecting the two to the same abuse won't necessarily result in the same results.

Does any of the 'velvety-ness' come off on your hands?
wayne_campbell
I understand from reading that the prism hump on the 6D is made of plastic to better allow the wireless transmissions to work, so it could well be reacting differently than the usual magnesium body.
Robin Smith
Seems pretty unlikely. The 6D has a rubbery non-slip covering. I think it is a bit more non-slip than the 5DII in my memory. It's not a defect: it's feature.
Robin Smith
