Do I have a CMC "Problem"?

Recommended Posts

"Hi, my name is Brad. I've been a CMC abuser for about 6 months now...."

Uh oh. I'm buying stuff. More and more and MORE......
But I'm an economist, so I'm cheap. Maybe that makes it okay. I can rationalize, can't I?

Pentax K1000 - $15.00 - Cleaned, re-foamed and given away to step-daughter
Pentax K1000 - $25.00 - Cleaned, re-foamed and given away to best friend's daughter
Olympus XA - $25.00 - My carry piece
Nikon FE Body - $10.00 - A little brassing, but otherwise perfect
Nikon 50mm 1.8 Series E - $30.00 - Clean as a baby's behind, purchased at lunch today
Nikon 28mm 2.8 N. - $25.00 - Early copy, user grade only
Nikon 28mm 2.8 N.C. - $25.00 - Later copy, better grade
Olympus 35 DC - $10.00 - backup carry camera
Nikon 2020 - $0.00 (came with a lens, didn't really want the camera, but it works great!)

I haven't been burned by non-working stuff yet. I've been able to get everything back into order, even when there have been some unexpected light leaks.
And then there's my previous stock of Nikon lenses, a couple of other Nikon bodies, yet another K1000, a Rollei, a Mamiya 7ii, folders, ayeeeiiii!!!!!!
"Doctor! Is there something I can take?" ;-)

You've gone in so far that to go back would be as tedious as to go o'er.

Acknowledging the problem is the first step, of course.

One way out to is to get a partner here whom you can contact when you find a special bargain.
Once you've told that person, they will snipe you on eBay so you can't buy the item.:)

I have the N2020 with the hard to find AA battery conversion. It's an amazing camera as it meters with manual focus lenses and with SB-15 strobe TTL tiltrd up for bounce flash and 50mm f1.8 Nikkor using program mode one gets sharp, well exposed images. I paid $15 for the body, $7.00 for the AA battery conversion unit and $15 for N2000 with 50mm f1.8 Nikkor(not series E). Sold the N2000 for $30 with Series E 50mm f1.8. Film cameras are everywhere at rock bottom prices. I use Costco for soup, print and CD and when they stop, i'll go to millerslab.com out in the midwest.

There's an Ellington classic that goes.. I got it bad.. and that ain't good!

When you you start rationalizing backups for the back ups...ummm I think it's too late for you anyway.
At the rock bottom prices and generosity you have shown.. you can only rationalize cashing out is not an option!

Coming to us with that problem is like going to the Casino to help with a gambling problem. We are all lost causes here I'm afraid. Just roll with the punches and get that back up, back up, back up, for your backup...can't be too careful. Admire your generosity too...sharing the love.

My real goal is to be able to give away Nikons with primes. I'm almost there. If I could start to give away Nikon FEs and their ilk with 50mm primes and the odd 24mm (rats, those are 24mms, not 28mms above), then I'd feel like a pusher .....

It's admirable that you're giving them away. I'm not sure I'd be able to give any of mine away, even if I could find anyone that wanted any of them. I've had to make myself stay away from ebay. I kept putting in low bids on cameras that no one else wanted and winning them. Now I have many more cameras than I have time to go out and shoot. Free time is scarce with a 4 month old baby in the house.
