craig_shearman1
Try the Bescor unit below. it does pan and tilt. If you're got it mounted level, then that's taken care of (unless you're wanting to rotate the camera on the lens axis). It's only $125. If you want to look at other models, search for "video hothead."

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/64399-REG/Bescor_MP101_MP_101_Motorized_Pan_Head.html

Andrew Garrard
Craig - interesting, I'd not seen that Bescor before.

I'm not sure how much it helps, but some of the telescope companies are branching out into this area too. This one from Sky-Watcher, for example. No personal experience, and competitor options exist. I think it excludes rolling, but you can fix that up in software, generally. Good luck.
craig_shearman1
This might be a little Rube Goldberg, but you could theoretically take two of the Bescor units and mount one 90-degree to the other. Then you could use probably the bottom one to level the camera using its tilt function (turned 90 degrees), then use the top one to tilt and pan.

How are you controlling the rest of the camera, i.e., exposure settings, tripping the shutter, zoom? (Focus can obviously be taken care of by AF). Lightroom lets you do a fair amount of remote control of compatible camer, including the D3.

if you are totally bedridden, are you shooting out a window, or maybe having subjects brought to you?
john_davis24
Would that be stable for a D3? Im not sure....
ellis_vener_photography
Except for leveling , a motorized remotely controlled security camera camera mount would work.
