james_de_h
Sorry not to have studied all the responses so this may have been mentioned. One 'frustration' you may have with a 5D is the Canon software. It will not work with current 62-bit operating systems to include Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.8. If you have Win7 32-bit, DPP can work OK and allow tethered shooting etc. As to files, RAW images can be handled just fine in Photoshop CS6/CC and LR5, but Adobe may upgrade your body to a 5D MkII in the EXIF data etc. My used 5D has proven better than the one I owned from new and sold 5 years later. I think a used 5D at around £350/$560US is good value for a FF digital body. Regardless of the tech, the 5D Mk1 was and remains a great camera and will really deliver in the hands of a good photographer. Even I can capture great images with a 5D, despite have dreadful technical ability.

james_de_h
Starvy that is good news and all the more reason why a 5D makes sense for you.
