todd_angood
The F2 pictured, has deteriorating light seals throughout. Can any of you recommend a trusted repair facility or person in the United States ( I live in Kalamazoo, MI) that I could have replace these? Thanks in advance for your responses. I thoroughly enjoy reading all of the info on this forum.

ian_watson1
If it must be in the US then try this place:

http://www.nikoncamerarepair.com

They did a good job servicing an AI lens for me a few years ago. However, please consider Sover Wong. He might be in the UK but you will have a hard time finding anyone who knows the F2 better. I live in Canada and am a happy customer.

http://www.soverf2repair.webs.com
JDMvW
It's been a couple of years, but I got the foam pieces and some other Nikon F2 parts from Sover Wong in Britain ( http://www.soverf2repair.webs.com/ ).

It's quite simple to do yourself, and here are the instructions given, along with a smaller scale image of the foam strips before installation.
My Nikon F2 at http://www.photo.net/classic-cameras-forum/00ZBQE

todd_angood
Ian and JDM, thanks for the info. Sover Wong seems like the best course of action. I think I'll try and order the seals and do the job myself from JDM's posting of instructions. Thanks again, I REALLY appreciate it.
fred_haeseker
Another possibility is Jon Goodman, located in Dallas. He used to sell on eBay as "interslice," but stopped after shill buyers began purchasing his light seal kits and re-selling them at inflated prices. I replaced the seals on my Nikon FE with one of his kits -- excellent materials, good instructions, great results. I was recently in contact with him and believe he is still selling the kits. He is very helpful. You can reach him by e-mail:
jon_goodman@yahoo.com
Matthew Currie
If it's just light seals, I'd try it myself. Not too hard on most things.

If you need a more extensive repair on an old Nikon, another option is Vermont Camera Works in Pittsford, VT. They do mail order work, quote on line, know their way around old Nikons, and are honest, which about covers it.

http://vermontcamera.com/
CoryAmmerman
I second the notion to do it yourself. I replaced the seals on my Nikomat a few years ago. Not that tough. It took a couple of hours, mostly spent trying to get the gummy old seals out of the grooves.
charles_stobbs3
I'm a klutz but have replaced light seals in several cameras myself with no problem.

Brad Cloven
Jon Goodman. He has sent me several sets and they work well across Nikon, Pentax and I made do on a Yashica. You can do this yourself, don't worry. Just take your time.
