digitalhotdeal
Is it possible to take an open exposure shot with my Canon EOS Rebel G film camera? If so, how? I can't find a manual for the camera.
William Michael
Do you mean a “Bulb” exposure?

YES you can. I have an EOS 500N.

Select Manual Camera Mode (“M” on the Command Dial) and then turn the shutter speed to the on point beyond 30” – that will indicate ‘bulb’.The camera’s curtains and mirror will remain open for exposure, whilst the shutter is held depressed.

Also, (viewed from the rear – as you hold the camera), on the RH side of the camera on edge of the grip, there is a little hole and there should be a little cover you can pop out: that is a female connection for a Remote Release (RS 60E3). It is better to use that remote release, because the remote release has a locking mechanism, so you don’t have to keep the (remote) shutter release button, depressed with your finger.

WW
markonestudios
WW, precisely. I have the same camera too. Been a while since I used it, but that's how I used to do it...

Mine also had an eyepiece cover on the camera strap to prevent light seeping in from that.
Marcus Ian
... It is better to use the remote release (also ;-) ) because your hand will not be in direct contact with the camera, helping greatly to prevent camera shake.
