Mamiya 645J

Recommended Posts

My 1000S arrived today. I shot a test roll using the 55/2.8 and 80/2.8 N lenses and the PD-S finder. The camera is somewhat awkward to hold without any kind of winder or grip. The two N lenses work but do not seem nearly as sturdy as the Bronica lenses for the ETR cameras. The meter prism worked well and the camera came with some kind of Brightscreen. I shot an old 120 roll of Kodak Image Pro 100. I don't know its vintage so I rated it at 50. That worked for the last roll I shot. The 1000S was easy to load and looked clean inside. It was a little unnerving pulling out the 120 insert and seeing the shutter just sitting there. I found my 70/2.8 C leaf shutter lens and will try it next. Still on the way are two straps, a 150/4 C lens and another PD-S finder. I am already thinking of getting an M645J as a second body. The test film will let me know tomorrow whether there are any light leaks and what the spacing looks like.
