And I was seriously planning on heeding Nick's warning that it appears ALL Pentax WG series cameras will eventually leak. But this was an exceptional trout. And many of you know that as much as I like to eat trout, I am conservation minded and release most of them, especially special trout. So I was careful in reviving him. But after a battle many "lunker" size trout are tired and a bit dazed. He sat next to me resting for a very long time. I just had to get an underwater shot. Not great, but camera survived and it is a decent image. Then I turned my head to look around and out of the corner of my eye I saw him zip at full speed away meaning he had fully recovered. I have at times gone back and caught the same fish more than once. So catch and release really does work and you get to catch an image as well.

00beug-537927584.jpg.bacc68d8d932af691a171b9611073c8d.jpg

The woods around here are a mess of downed trees from last years derecheo and Sandy dumping wet snow on us, finding crick scenes that aren't clogged with brush has been difficult so I tried this little crick that I had never explored before and was glad I did found some decent scenes and several large morels for dinner!

00bevg-537949584.jpg.44c81c5f95fcc9c478b851d8a453aa64.jpg

Lovely woods there Robert. I had hoped to do similar down in Kentucky, but both my and my wife's cars got hit pretty badly with golf ball sized hail. So no trips for a couple of weeks while we get the dents banged out.

I have three more birds. The first was an accident. Somehow I accidently switched the camera to monochrome while chasing a Sora (a kind of rail. It was a decent image so I left it on the card.

The picture shows some abandoned cottages in County Clare, south-western Ireland, an area ravaged by famine in the past, leading to considerable migration.
Bob, beautiful fish and excellent use of the underwater capabilities! Even knowing they will leak I use mine underwater, 'cause you get a whole different kind of images there. That is particularly nice.

Here's an HDR shot from one DNG, trying not to be too overcooked:

00bf07-538035584.jpg.99a2ff7c31cd43477965a34997a88479.jpg

I've been away from this board for awhile. About this time last year, I posted photos of a pair of house wrens that had set up housekeeping on our back deck. Don't know if it's the same individuals or not, but we've got 'em again this year. The male seems overly optimistic in his choice of nest material.

00bf1v-538067684.jpg.026269b9ad9a7fe698204fe46658fad4.jpg

Great photos so far everyone!

I've been shooting a lot in the last week and working with the Nik plugin suite which I have been enjoying.
I shot this one on an evening mountain bike ride last week and it seemed perfect for a B&W image. I used Silver Efx to process it.
Then while riding home from the trails I had to stop at my favorite sunset pond to shoot this image. I shot 5 +/- 2 bracketed exposures handheld and processed it with Nik HDR Efx Pro 2.
Saturday I did a hike with my family down into the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River via a lesser-hiked route from the North rim. The light was pretty flat much of the day so I took a lot of moving water shots just stopping down to increase exposure time. I was reasonably happy with a few of them including this one.
Finally, a bonus photo from yesterday which was my birthday. To mark the day a couple of friends and I got our skis back out to summit and ski a 14,000 Ft peak called Handies. It was a super fun day and the skiing was really good - better than expected! I can't often ski on my birthday so I had to take advantage of this great spring we are having.
