wim_van_velzen
Hi all,
Two months ago I finally decided on buying a Rollei 6008 and lenses to replace my Bronica ECs.
I put an article on my site with my experiences so far and some general remarks. This article could be of some help to people who think about switching systems.
Comments are always welcome!
Wim
Robin Smith
Wim Why on earth make the type hard-to-read gray? It is a pain to read it is so difficult. In fact I have given up. Robin Smith
wim_van_velzen
Hi Robin,
I am afraid is a browser problem :-( What browser do you use?
Do more people have this problem?
If so, I will change the text colour in the CSS.
Thanks for pointing me out, Wim
wim_van_velzen
I just changed the colour of the text (vivat CSS!). Please report any bad readability!
Wim
donald_brewster
Nice article. Text popped up quite readable for me, though I read after you changed it.
david_goldfarb
Nice article, and great shots on the "Bronica EC in Scotland" piece that is linked to the article. One question--had you ever considered or tried switching from the EC to the S2A, which is thought to be more reliable, since you already had EC lenses, which would be compatible on the S2A (though the backs and finders are different)? wim_van_velzen
David,
I considered going the S2A route indeed. What kept me back is the lack of availability (older Bronicas were more available here in the Netherlands a few years ago) and the fact that the backs, the prism and the Maxwell screen cannot be used on a S2A.
And for landscape the lack of MLU can be a problem.
OTOH, if I wouldn't have aimed on doing more and more weddings, I probably would have chosen the S2A or I would have looked for a less used EC.
Wim
john_bright
Wim What a shame! I bought an S2A (all black) from a local shop about a year ago. It was almost mint, with 80mm Nikkor lens and leather case. A lady had put it up for commision sale for £99(I think it was her late husbands). I used it a few times and then swapped it, two months later for something else I needed (value about £190). I already had two other MF cameras and a selection of lenses at the time and did'nt realise that the S2A was so popular, or I might have kept it. I bet you'd have liked it for that price. wim_van_velzen
Hi John,
I certainly would! Maybe I would have bought the Rollei anyway, but it would have served nicely as a body for my Bronica lenses.
Well, never mind. I hope someone else is happy with it now!
Wim
peter brown - www.peterbro
Hi Wim,
A nice review and it's interesting to read your comparisons with the Bronica - something you don't often see Rollei compared with.

I found the text easily readable (although I usually don't like white/gray text on black) and for someone who's first language is not english it is very well written and understood.
I hope you get as much pleasure from the Rollei system as you have from the Bronica and don't forget to try out one of those lovely Distagon 60mm lenses some time :-)
Have a great time using it over the Christmas holiday season and good light for your landscapes.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
Kind regards,
Peter Brown
http://www.peter-brown -photographer.com
