JohnMWright
I just ordered a 24-70 f/2.8L II to go on a FF body. This is my first lens with an 82mm filter thread, and I need a polarizer. Anyone know if normal thickness polarizing filters will vignette at 24mm on this lens?

model mayhem gallery
I would guess to say all zoom lenses vignette at least some at their widest opening. I did a test between a Canon 24-105 F4 L and Tamron 24-70 V2.8 VR which also uses an 82 mm filter. The larger filter seems to vignette less when I compared with a older Canon 24-105 which is 77mm filter. A good polarizer will not cause lens to vignette much if any more than it already does.
JohnMWright
Thank you. I'm sure my safest bet to avoid a hard vignette is to get a thinner filter.
