17-40L 77M cap for Hitech?

Are you talking about the Canon lens cap? If I'm reading the description of the Hitech right, it seems to be very similar in implementation to the Cokin system, with which I'm familiar.

In that case, the adapter you thread onto the lens' filter threads occupies the same place the Canon lens cap does. The remaining space is no longer 77mm across, but smaller by around 2mm or so, so your Canon 77mm cap can't fit in the smaller space.

With the Cokin system, they offered an opaque plastic "filter" you would slide into the filter holder to protect the lens like a lens cap would.

I hope this helped!

So basicly I can just buy a 75mm lens cap, and it will fit?

Probably not. The Canon cap relies on the threads to hold it in place. The adapter is probably smooth on the inside. The dark slide is the best way to protect the lens, if you don't care to remove the adapter.
