Hello Everyone.
Hi Bob, sure is great to see that you are moving about. I really like the snow image; I personally haven't gotten anything as nice, but I think the thickness of the snow you got there is a plus.
Patrick-Woods Ducks are pretty skittish, I always appreciate a well taken Wood Duck image. You might want to crop a touch, especially the near water to give it a bit more impact, IMHO.
Markus-I've learned my lesson; never look at your images before lunch. Everything you image looks so much better than what I bring with me.
Nick-Thank you. The image needs some work, it's a straight shot, but I'm getting some good feedback on it. Cute kids (my wife likewise doesn't want to see identifying images of our daughter on the web either).
Hin, two of your images seem really special. I love the placement of the girl in the reflecting light on the water; she has a magical quality about her. Also that #3, that statue looks superhuman, either that or neo-nationalistic (reminds me of statues in northern Italy built by Franco).

Nice work everyone!
.
Well I wasn't sleeping yesterday morning. I was out skiing! This weeks POTW is 100% ski themed for me.
Friday evening my son and I went to see an event at the local university, the Red Bull Rail Jam. A course was set up on campus and competitors tried to outdo each other doing tricks on the rails. It looks pretty hard and the crashes were cringe inducing. I think I'll stick to powder!
K-5 & Tamron 28-75 & Sigma dg-530 Super flash
<a title="IMGP0052 by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP0052 src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8510/8478245166_1ba1e6477a_z.jpg" alt="IMGP0052" width="640" height="424" />
.
Saturday I took my son skiing at Monarch Mountain and it was a pretty nice day despite being a little on the cold and windy side. Snow was nice and the boy is skiing very well!
K-5 & DA 18-135
<a title="IMGP0162 by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP0162 src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8479731407_fb63cdaafe_z.jpg" alt="IMGP0162" width="640" height="495" />
.
Finally, yesterday I went out in to the backcountry with a couple of friends and we found some really fun skiing in and area we ended up doing three laps on (climbing it, then skiing it). My legs are tired today!
K-5 & DA 18-135
<a title="IMGP0237-2 by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP0237-2 src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8093/8483114193_bd6fa405bc_z.jpg" alt="IMGP0237-2" width="424" height="640" />
.
I'm going to add one bonus shot today of me taken by one of my ski buddies with my camera while we were out yesterday. This is my Happy Place. :)
K-5 & DA 18-135
<a title="IMGP0314 by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP0314 src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8251/8484210564_d46c00451e_c.jpg" alt="IMGP0314" width="530" height="800" />

Douglas - Wow, that's a neat looking owl. Nice shot!
Bob - the falling snow shot is woinderful. Nicely done!
Yury - I like that first shot but wish you would have angled down a little to show more of the shadow and less of the plain sky. Still a great view!
Markus - sushi looks great! I'm hungry! Winter blues is also very nice. I like the repetition of the hanging pods and the color is great.
Nick - the peeking shot is very cute!
Hin - love the first two. Great work as usual!
Howard - I like the first. I would have been tempted to get close with a wide angle with that sculpture.

Thanks Matt, Doug, and everyone else. Not being able to do the things one used to be able to and yet to still be able to contribute in a small way to the weekly POW and get some complements means a lot to my rehabilitation. You guys produce incredible images week in and week out and yet are extremely supportive and considerate. Thanks friends.

Bob

PS I've been out of my cast for two weeks in a boot. Today the ortho took me out of the boot (which I had already begun to do ) and gave me a simple ankle brace and sort of "set me free". There are some other health issues seen on a CT scan to reckon with. But I feel good and hope to be close to my oldself one day.
