Photography Books

Kindle has text to speech capability built in that works well on the Fire HD with the books I've tried so far. By "well" I mean, better than the typical robo-speech weather and traffic voice.

But there's more to a good audio book than merely reciting the words. I've listened to several audio books the past couple of years, including a lot of classic fiction. An experienced reader (often a professional actor) makes all the difference in helping the reader understand and retain the information or narrative. A text to speech utility or an inexperienced reader who doesn't interpret the text appropriately can make it difficult to get anything useful from a book, periodical or newspaper article.

Some video tutorials may translate remarkably well as voice only tutorials. In particular Julieanne Kost's video tutorials for Lightroom are so well done that I find it easier to retain the information. Her voice is carefully modulated, with appropriate pauses and transitions between thoughts and segments. I'll occasionally listen to her video tutorials without actually watching them carefully and still find them helpful.

Hello Nancy
I'm not sure why you want an audio book to explain exposure. It's like a photo book without photos or diagrams to explain what's in the text. Since photography is a visual medium and vision is where we get most of our sensory input I would suggest a video or visual medium. It would be much easier to absorb and retain. If you are looking for clear and concise explanations on exposure this is a good one http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/camera-exposure.htm not a video but this site explains all the basics in a clear way. It is a learning site on the basics of lens, processing etc short and well presente, the home site is http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/. As far a videos of course there is YouTube, I typed in "photography exposure" and got 3,610 results. Most are 3 to 10 minutes long. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=photography+exposure+tutorial&oq=photography+exposure&gs_l=youtube.1.0.0l6j0i5l3.8309.14593.0.17837.20.20.0.0.0.0.106.1764.18j2.20.0...0.0...1ac.1.yyPgkyGARoQ
