This is for the Nikon 17-55mm 2.8 (Centre Resolution)

Now resolution isn't everything by any stretch of the imagination, but it does encompass some of the IQ limiting factors. The Sigma has a stabiliization system, unlike the Nikon.

About £500 for the Sigma and ~£1000 for the Nikon.

Kyle, do you have the VC version?

havent tried it on a d7000, but i use my 17-50 OS on a d300s. it's a pretty good lens. my biggest gripe is that the zoom ring turns the wrong (Canon) way. more of an annoyance, really. the pics it produces are quite sharp and the stabilization is great to have (and mostly silent).
