Robert,
Check out Thomas Distributing and their Maha Chargers here;
http://www.thomasdistributing.com/

They were my solution a few years back with a charger for the battery pack for the Canon EOS 3. Off the top of my head, I don't remember the Canon battery or charger designation. However, someone here on PN had recommended the Thomas Distrubiting site and the Maha charger was about 1/4th the cost of the Canon charger and it has always worked fantastic!
Worth looking into in my opinion. I've had good luck with their product, service, shipping etc., etc.. but, that was a few years back but I did just google for the link above and their site looks as I remember it. It will take a bit of research, maybe even a tech/customer service telephone call to get assistance for the correct charger for the LP-E6. My experience was that they were very anxious to provide assistance.

Hope this helps & Best wishes,

Edit:
Actually Robert, I checked Thomas's site and here's one for the LP-E6 for $14.97 with a one year warranty from Thomas Distributing here;

There are many uncertainties connected with 3. party chargers, so I chose original.
The charger must have 4 pin connection, or it won't charge original cannon batteries. Even if it has 4 pins, it might not charge original batteries. Canon batteries have built in electronics, that is used by the charger.

Canon batteries might deteriorate faster if not charged with an original charger.

You might be able to pick up a used as thats what people have left, when their camera gets stolen. I have a charger for the 5D because of that.

Poul is incorrect, two pin chargers will charge the LP-E6s. How effectively they will charge it is strongly dependent upon the quality and programming of the charger.

When one of mine died, I purchased a cheapy charger, which exploded into flames the first time I tried to charge a battery, then I purchased a Promaster Extrapower traveller+, because it was capable of charging LP-E6s, BP511s, and NB-2LHs (plus another couple of newer rebel batts) which I had all in service at the time, and had a 500mA USB out as well. Is perfect for travelling, and is certainly competent and reliable.

I once bought a third-party charger for my BP-511 batteries. I needed something that could plug into a cigarette lighter. I think it contributed to a very early death to my batteries. I've had no trouble with third-party batteries. They've been cheap and durable, but I'll only use a Canon charger.

I would not get a third party charger or battery for experiences as above... instant or eventual side effects. $45 for a new LC-E6 charger is not bad. $300+ for LC-E4 charger (for 1D bodies) is.
Especially if you only have 1 or 2 batteries and your charger/battery fails, and you can't take pictures.
