There's bound to be plenty of Sandy-related shots this week, so I'll start with mine. I live on three wooded acres outside Elkins, WV. We had 15 inches of wet, heavy snow. I lost seven trees and too many branches to count, but at least nothing hit the house. This is looking down my driveway, a few hours before everything started breaking.

00azko-502391584.jpg.ee0928a7edf2f801c7591008b30a2481.jpg

Oops, I meant to include this one, taken a couple of days after my first. Same place, my driveway. This thing broke partially, about twenty feet up, and is still hanging there. The tree guy comes tomorrow (I hope). As Robert can attest, this (or worse) is is what much of the state looks like.

00azuk-502515784.jpg.25c8f51c32da74795a51dc8f90b816cc.jpg

Wow, that's a lot of snow! I wish we would get some!
My first shot is from an outing where I had intended to shoot the sunset. I was late and missed it so I took some "blue hour" shots and liked this one.
Saturday we had the official opening and dedication of our new city skate park. We are really excited to see it come together because it hit a lot of snags along the way and honestly I didn't think it was going to happen for a while there.
I used to read the skateboard magazine Thrasher as a teen and always liked the cool fisheye photos they would publish. So I tried to emulate that style myself.
Yesterday a friend and I went for a bike ride on the exposed lake shore that would typically be submerged. We had high hopes to do a circumnavigation but it wasn't in the cards for us yesterday. Still a fun day of exploration in places we can't normally access so easily.

The weather in Montana has been really pleasant up till now. It might be changingwith snow and temps in the single digits forecast for this weekend. I took advantage of some golden afternoon light yesterday.

I had to make a quick trip up to Salmon, Idaho this past weekend for a family-related matter, and that meant flying up to Missoula, Montana and then driving down to Salmon. It's beautiful up there this time of year - I just wish we could have stayed longer.

First up, the Salmon River just a bit north of Salmon, ID. K-5, DA40, 1/400 sec. at f/8.0, ISO 200.

We stopped for lunch at The Brewery in Salmon. I got this shot of the ceiling while waiting for our food. It's the second time we've eaten there, and I can recommend it. K-5, DA40, 1/25 sec. at f/5.0, ISO 320.

I always like visiting Missoula, again it's too bad we couldn't stay longer. Here's the view early Sunday morning from our hotel room. K-5, DA40, 1/60 sec. at f/6.3, ISO 200.
