andrew_becker1
In my searches through eBay, I managed to find something very interesting-- An all metal hood for a Vega 12b lens. It has interesting text which is synonymous with the text on a prototype Kiev 11 camera. Here are some photos

Sourced from ussrphoto.com

Sourced from ebay.com

Any insight into what this lens hood is would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking for one for quite a while and would like to know if this is the real deal, and any history on it.
ondebanks
Hi Andrew,

The Vega-12b was a 90/2.8 standard lens for the Kiev-6C. I still have a couple of samples of this lens (keep intending to sell a load of P6/Kiev/Exakta stuff...PM me if there's anything you're looking for), and they are both good.

But are you sure that this hood is for the 90/2.8? The lens itself has a deeply recessed front element - almost like a built-in partial lens hood. And that hood you've pictured looks like it would vignette the field of view of a standard lens.

So I suspect that it is actually for the Vega-28b - the 120/2.8 short-tele lens. I (again) have one of these, and it came with a square rigid hood very much like the one pictured...I'd have to find the lens at home to check if it's exactly the same type of hood.
