andrew_brown3
Hi,
Mike Butkus' site Orphan Cameras has a (free, but he would appreciate a donation) manual for the Contax 111a which may help you.

Andy.
Gus Lazzari
Made easier by having the transport/shutter wound, you move the "index dot" knurled grip ring. Either with your fingernail or two thumbs, spin it through friction to your desired setting. The self-timer should start up as soon as you press the "charged" shutter release button. (The earlier Contax II and III require sliding of the button hidden under the self-timer lever)
tony_lockerbie
Gus is quite right. They can get a bit stiff though, so don't break a nail!
chris_williams19
I will second Tony's comment. If it's anything like my Contax IIa, the knurled grip ring is quite likely to damage your fingernail. Gorgeous camera, but be careful when resetting the frame counter!
Be sure to post some pictures from your Contax IIIa, Santiago!
