chi_cheung
I come across this picture. Is this real?
kevin_hundsnurscher
It's on the Leica site. http://www.leica-camera.com/sportoptik/einsatzbereiche/vogelbeobachtung/televid/index_e.html
kevin_hundsnurscher
Giving it more thought, I don't see how this combo would work, given that the camera is a rangefinder.
hoyin_lee1
But why won't it work? Won't the correct TTL view show up on the LCD monitor screen?
lct__
It's a Leica spotting scope Apo-Televid 77 attached to a Leica Digilux1.
doug herr
Using this combination is called 'digiscoping'. For web use the results can be quite good.
john_collier2
Digiscoping is very popular, where have you guys been? Try a google search for way too many sites.

Robin Smith
Yes you can attach the Televid to the R via a Leica adapter too - I've no idea what the quality is like and of course there is no aperture, but it certainly works. It is in their catalog. Robin Smith
lee_shively
Digiscoping is popular among some birders. The results can be excellent within the limitations of the system. My not-very-in-depth research into it has indicated Swarovski scopes are considered better for the purpose than Leica scopes.
jackflesher
The ublication "Leica Fotographie" ran an article on this just a few issues ago. They hooked the Digilux up to the Televid with the 20-60x eyepiece -- Leica even makes an adapter for this specific purpose -- and the results were pretty spectacular. Cheers,
jackflesher
Uhhh... that second word should be publication. Sorry,
rich_weiss
I remember reading about an adaptor in Leica Literature for the Digilux, sorry I cannot remember where. I did however hook up the same 77 Telivid Scope thing using a special adaptor (Viewing Scope Camera Adaptor - approx 459.00 list) from Leica and a T-mount for Nikon. Worked well. oliver_s.
Yup, even serious nature photography periodicals occasionally deal with it, although their pictures defy all verbal praise. Not to mention that many birds don't quite have the patience for all the photographer's preliminary operations. Aside from that, aperture isn't that large.
