martin_jiang1
Hi all, I just acquire a yashica mat 124 and I have some question, please help. 1) How do I know the meter is working? How do I know the battery is NOT dead?I just can not make the yellow and red indicator align no matter what light it is. any idea? 2) It appears the "B" shutter is not working, it sounds like a 1/30 to me, could it be that it's use battery to open the shutter and the battery is dead? ot a mechnical problem? Thanks Martin
brian_aderer
The meter should work when you flip up the waist level finder, if it doesn't, the meter is shot or the battery is dead. The battery is located in a small screw compartment on the side of the body. Take it into a camera shop and have them fix it for you. It sounds like yours probably only needs a new battery (most do). Bulb often sounds like 1/30 when you don't keep it depressed. If you are keeping the button depressed, and it still sounds like that, than the shutter's defective. terry_carraway
If you are trying to use an alkaline battery, you may not be able to get it to work right. The mercury cell for this meter was 1.35V, alkline batteries are 1.5V when new.
