My favorite bowling center is (finally!) installing synthetic lane surfaces over the worn out wooden ones. The synthetic material is mounted on particle board panels. Here, the crew chief is sealing edges so they won't absorb moisture and warp. Bowling rules require the surface to be flat within +/- 0.040" (less than the thickness of a dime) measured in any direction, including the entire 60-foot length of the lane.

I was out with two lenses (16-35/4G and 85/1.8D) shooting my boy riding his tricycle and the 85mm somehow popped out of my pocket and hit the sidewalk with a clank (hood first, thank goodness). Back upstairs I took some test shots to see if it was all right. It was. This was shot at another setting that makes no particular sense in retrospect, except I was coming in from a twilight scene: ISO 3200 f/2.5 1/400th -0.33. I could have shot it at f/2 and ISO 800 since the end result was overexposed anyway. I was too upset to think about it.

00aY93-477489584.jpg.c6c760cce53c52ba0f76d1a10fe35744.jpg

Good Wednesday all my Nikon friends,
Lighting, or the lack thereof, can make a difference. Here's the floating museum, USS Kidd, in Baton Rouge, LA. It was a very dark night and the ship was not well lit. Capturing any good image meant extended shutter time and a good tripod. For a more dramatic effect, I changed the white balance to "sunny", allowing for the orange glow. Interesting outcome.
Great day to everyone.

00aY94-477491584.jpg.b216e8fae644e22cef97388b2f979e82.jpg
