Bird Identification Assistance

<p>I am not good at identifying birds, so I ask for your help. A few of these fellows regularly fish at a creek that I visit in Alabama. I haven't been able to figure out what they are. Thanks, in advance, for your assistance.</p><div></div>

<p>Jeremy it's a juvenile night-heron. There are two species in N America, and the shortish stubby bill, limited pale markings on the wings and clearer streaks on the underparts suggest Yellow-crowned Night-heron, rather than Black-crowned Night-heron, the other species. Enjoy them!</p>

Thanks. I had previously seen an adult

yellow crowned night heron there,

though not on this occasion. But

obviously the markings on this one

were not the same even though the

body was similar.
