Rob_the_waste
I made it to the Toronto Camera show on Sunday. I met Clay there and he picked up a good haul too, better than mine. I mainly went to try and scrounge some 120 film, and I got seven rolls of various films for $20.00. I also picked up some odds and ends. I managed a pair of neutral density filters in 52 mm, a Minolta body cap and matching strap, but most interesting for me was a Minolta mount 23mm lens for $25.00. Clay advised me that the "Dimension" label was the in house label used by Blacks Camera back in the day. Until now, the widest lens I had was a Makinon 28, but I wanted something just a bit wider. I wasn't interested in dumping $700.00 just because a lens might say Nikon. I'll do that when I win the lottery. The ND filters will allow me to really crank down the exposure times with my Nikons as both of my prime lenses have 52 mm filter mounts. I can go a bit further with the step ring and a 3 stop ND in 55 mm.
I almost didn't make it to the camera show. Last weekend I was out standing on what was left of the ice at my father's place. This weekend, the ice was gone. I got brave (and maybe just a bit stupid) and took the canoe out only to dump it over in the middle of the lake. It took some work to get back into the shallows. I didn't really feel the cold until after I got out of the water. I stayed with the canoe and I hung on to the paddle. My hands were numb. I'm sure I coughed up a fish. I might hold off on future swims for another week or two.

clay2
Hi Rob,
Just checked my Dimension lens for my Minolta SR-T101 cameras:
35mm f/2.8 No.721557. Depth of field preview is a lever on right side.
Very little on net about them. Black's and other camera stores in Toronto had them in late 1960's/early 70's.
Best regards,
/Clay

aplumpton
The Photographic Historical Society of Canada (PHSC, see their website) has another large camera exchange show on May 27th, at the soccer field building on Martin Grove road, in Woodbridge, just north of Toronto.
Rob_the_waste
I may have to go to that one. The wide angle lens I picked up has a 62mm filter mount. I found out that Cokin A filter mounts go up to 62mm. I should have thought of it while I was there.
chuck_foreman1
I think I would've died if I swamped a canoe in freezing water over my head with all my clothes on! Wow.
