paulie_smith1
Per the gentleman I spoke with at Roberts Camera the EOS 1DMkIV is discontinued. No more to be made. So, good bye to the 1.3 crop bodies that were great for sports, wildlife and action work. Looks like is the 1Dx if they ever really get it going.
zml
FWIW: 1D4 is still marked as current on the Canon US site.

> good bye to the 1.3 crop bodies that were great for sports, wildlife and action work

Well, in some circles the concepts of "effective focal length" and "number of pixels on a duck" seem to significantly obfuscate the laws of physics.
JDMvW
Even if manufacture is discontinued, they will continue to sell the ones in the retail channel until they are all gone. If you want one new, now is presumably the time to buy.
scott_ferris
The sooner the 1Dx comes on stream and the 1D MkIV are more plentiful on the used market, the happier I will be. I had pretty much given up on the 1.3 crop a few years ago but, even though I don't subscribe to the pixels on a duck delusion, I do think it will compliment my 1Ds MkIII better, and considerably cheaper, than the 1Dx.

My one wish, that I am certain won't be answered, would be that they, the 1D MkIV and the 1Ds MkIII, would get firmware upgrades to fully implement the new 600EX-RF radio technology.
craig_meddaugh
Canon still says the 1D4 is in production... maybe that will change, but until Canon says otherwise, who cares.
