The bar continues to be set high here. Nice job everyone and congratulations ME! I wish I was closer.
I hadn't shot much this week until today. I hoped to get the moon and planets last night but clouds obscured the view. But my son is participating in a kid's photography project and had to get out and shoot today. So we went out a couple of times and he impressed me with his perseverance and I have to say he's got an eye for composition! So here are a few of mine from the outing.

Been some time since I posted in POTW, but here's an interesting one. These are the last of the Ford Ranger pickup trucks built for the North American market, my guess is these were a national fleet purchase. They came out of Ford's oldest operating plant (since 1925) in St. Paul, MN, which shuttered its doors in December '11, and is destined for the wrecking ball in the coming months. Hundreds of these plain-Jane white trucks are sitting in limbo on the grounds of the MN State Fair, in St. Paul. The Fair Grounds are largely a ghost town at this time of year, and unless you travel through the dead end public streets of the grounds (and there's no reason to at this time of year), you'd never know they were there. The end of an era, the end of a lot of good paying local jobs.

Thank you all for your great contributions this week! Nick, I just have learned to make and bake my own bread and went to a green smoothies drink course tonight and start planning on being the photographer of the first vegan cookbook in Switzerland. I do have to learn a lot more about food photography since I'm still a beginner but I do have a very interesting time with my Pentaxes during the next weeks, glad you like to see my progress and my mistakes with food :-)

00a5EJ-446747584.jpg.388ec6cec284ba3846a77e6cef0d2fe6.jpg

Markus,

that sounds like a great project. Lots of good learning, and maybe eating, too.
Though we are not vegans, we enjoy vegan recipes at home or, even better, at a few good restaurants. Our favorite is Chaco Canyon Organic Cafe. The contents of your third shot would sell well there.
Jemal and Matt, thanks.
Lots of good shots this week:
Denise S. that's a cool shot and could be better with some lightening.
Bob M, wonderful still scene, a real calendar shot.
Yury, the Marietta St. shot is classic with great contrast.
John B, great textures, this should be a big print.
Henk, the first is lovely and very natural looking--a lot of folks would fake that up with HDR. The fourth is peaceful and nicely lighted. That would look good large too.
Dave H, that second one is so fine. Great color and form. The textures on the other two are also very appealing. The third is really cool not just for the textures but for the movement within the frame. Plus it's weird.
Those are all good Matt, the middle one catches my eye most as the forms and movement jibe well. Isn't going out shooting with your kid the absolute best thing? I've learned to keep my mouth shut until my daughter asks for advice.
Robert B, love the framing and light.
Sigmar D, the Red Rocket is a real contemporary photograph. Love it.
Steve T, your photograph of the Rangers sitting there brings to mind the Arizona desert where Boeing parks its unsold airplanes.
ME
