David_Cavan
Funny - I see a lot of Nikons when I'm out looking at other people's cameras. Maybe it averages out between our observations.
Dave Cavan https://davecavanphotographics.com/
lornesunley
Nikon stealth cameras are popular, but you can't see them :-)
mark_drutz
I see a lot of Nikons and a few Pentax and Sonys as well as Canons. Canon is the biggest seller, but it has nowhere near 80% of the market. I think that part of it is good marketing and advertising. Part of it may also be word of mouth. People tend to recommend what they own themselves, and since Canon has been the biggest seller for years, it has more people recommending them to friends and family.

richardsperry
jf, Love it. I just put a rubber armor case thingy on mine. Did the same stealthy thing, without messing with resale.
tonmestrom
you only see what you want to see. It's like buying a car, once you've got a certain type you see them all around. That's all.
sarah_fox
I live in a tourist destination (e.g. Colonial Williamsburg) and see cameras from all around the world. From what I can see, it's a pretty even mix of everything.
jens_g.r._benthien
Is the name on the camera really that important? On my camera there is no name, only on the rail it reads 'Arca Swiss'. What is Canon?
------------------------------------------ Worry is like a rocking chair. It will give you something to do, but it won't get you anywhere. stp
Sure the name is important -- can't think of anything more important. If I see a photo that I really like, I want to know what camera was used to I can take a great photo just like it. It's frustrating when the photographer keeps is a secret.
jcuknz
Stephen .. has nobody told you that its the nut behind not the machine in front? Or didn't you believe them :-) Nothing succeeds like success but as Avis said/says "we try harder".
jens_g.r._benthien
Stephen, good point, you must have a real nice keyboard. Does it have a name on it? I might try to get the same one to improve my wording...

------------------------------------------ Worry is like a rocking chair. AlanKlein
I think new cameras should be shipped with memory cards holding about 100 beautifully composed and colorful drop dead photos already stored on them but not available to be seen by the purchaser. Then when you're out and about shooting, every 50th or so of the secret shots randomly pops up into the middle of the ones you actually shot so it will be there when you download all you have taken into your computer. Now wouldn't that be neat?
Flickr gallery: https://www.flickr.com/photos/alanklein2000/albums
