becs_viveash
Now, for the life of me I can't get my AF 50mm 1.4D to auto focuse on my D700 - I could be being a spass but i THINK i have tried everything - any thoughts/ suggests and I will be eternally grateful!

hanks in advance guys!
rodeo_joe1
Does the camera focus with any other lens? Have a look at the "screwdiver" connection on the lens and camera body. The camera body spade is spring loaded, so if it meets any resistance in engaging with the slot in the lens, it might not work properly.
ShunCheung
Right, and does that lens AF with other Nikon cameras? The simple stuffs are checking the AF/MF switches on the lens and on the camera body. Make sure that the electronic contacts around the lens mount on both sides are clean and conduct electricity.

Beyond that, does the D700 AF with other AF lenses that depend on the camera's AF motor, i.e. other non AF-S lenses?

rolf_reiser1
Two things come to my mind:
1. is the lens locked in properly?
2. is it set to f22?
rolf_reiser1
My comment: "2. is it set to f22?" should be f16 for the 50mm/ 1.4
erik_christensen3
Mine focus on D700, however, it is hunting unbelievable, as the only lens in my possession, and think I have tried everything in the book!
