Brad_
Taken at a farmer's market yesterday - first time I've shot at one. Anyone else have similar photos?
www.citysnaps.net
Spearhead
I usually carry a camera when I'm in the farmer's market, although I go to get food usually. It's often tough to get good light, at least here in California, because everything is tented to keep out the sun.

Girl in a Truck (Daido-ized), Copyright 2002 Jeff Spirer
Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
emre
It may be a bit of a stretch, but it certainly makes me think "Farm"!
 Zany Farm
gib
I like your shot. I have taken a camera along to various farmers'markets over the years, including indoor markets like the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto. There always seems to be lots of interesting subjects to photograph.

duolian
Here's one I took recently at my local farmers' market. I kinda knew when I shot it that this quiet old lady wouldn't be lit well enough, but I just didn't want to fire a flash at her. I was right about the lighting, and even with some aggressive (digital) dodge & burn she is still too much in shadow for me.

fotografz
Dave, go to: www.fredmirinda.com Fred has a PhotoShop Actions program called "Shadow Recovery" that will blow your mind. It will reach in and only affect the shadow areas without lifting the midtones and lights. You have a wide choice of degree from very low to very high. I think it was only about $9 and he e-mails it to you right away, along with no-brainer instructions how to load it into PhotoShop. I think it is a "must have" for scanned and digital capture image control.

duolian
Marc, Robert -- thanks for the suggestion, but, alas! I do not have Photoshop, so that program is of no use to me. Yes, it's true- not everybody has Photoshop.
james___
Hi Jeff, I liked your image of the lady with the scale. I see a much different picture there though. One that isolates her with the scale is much better at conveying, to me, the notion of a farmer in commerce. try it. A lot of the rest of the image is wasted space. She is so small in the frame with all the other information in the frame. She is so interesting with the scale and the produce in her hand. And happy thanksgiving Jeff. We still need to get together. todd frederick
Well...there are no "real" people in this photos, but after raising many chickens for may years I find it hard to tell the difference at times. I call this "Hen House Gossip," B/W, 4x5, hand tinted.
